Hi gang,

Just a small update to let you know that we have now shipped over 1000 copies of Swords: Cut the Deck!

That is largely International orders leaving the USA, which are a little bit trickier.  It wasn't the original plan, but it became important to focus on exports first, before the evolving tariff situation created any more uncertainty. There are now only around 100 International orders left to process - please make sure your BackerKit order is up to date if you haven't!

We are now moving on to the rest of the USA orders - if you get an email asking you to update your details, it makes the process smoother for us if you still take the time to click through it, even if you make no changes to your order.  Once that's done, please don't panic if it takes a few days to get your shipping number.

Sadly, we didn't win at the Pav Awards on Friday!  But it was great to be nominated, thank you for having us!  Let's keep working hard to make Cut the Deck more and more awesome!

Thanks for coming on this quest with us.  We're currently having conversations behind the scenes about what the future of the game will look like, and we'll be looking forward to working with you all closely to make sure the next steps make meaningful updates to the core game.

Howdy from Texas!

Across the world, we’ve fulfilled almost 20% of your orders and are working hard to keep ramping up progress!

Our system has been validated with small bulk orders, so we’ve moved on to processing larger batches. We are currently prioritizing non-US orders (which are ⅓ of those awaiting fulfilment) for two reasons:

Shipping can take 3+ weeks from when we drop off a package to when it shows up at its destination nation, so y’all could use the head start. (It’s usually less than a week for domestic orders.)
International trade instability is pretty wild right now, and we can’t assume anything about the future.  As much as possible we want to avoid punishing anyone for things outside of our control.

We don’t have any firm time estimates for when the final packages will be shipped, but we're pulling in as much help as we can.

Keep looking out for emails to update your address, add-ons, and billing, and don’t worry if you haven’t seen any yet - They’re usually sent to the backers in a given batch a few days before we start shipping their orders.

That said, please do check that your email address is correct on Backerkit! If you signed up through Apple ID with a private relay, we’ve noticed that fulfilment emails don’t always arrive as expected. We’re happy to edit that from our end if needed, so please reach out!

Hi swordmasters!

I know you're all eager to get your cards!  We're working on it!  But this quick post is just for people in the Austin, Texas area!

Two of our guest artists, Jason (MyDadIsDracula) and Zach (LastPlaceComics) will be tabling this weekend at Staple Expo:

If you are planning to swing by and want to pick up your copy of Swords: Cut the Deck, please email Thane ( [email protected] ) in a timely fashion, so he can arrange to have it waiting for you at Jason's stall in the Webcomic Corner of the event.  I'm sure if you b̶u̶l̶l̶y̶ ask them really nicely, they will sign their cards for you!

Speaking of cards, Jason will also have his own card game THE DADDENING available at the event!

In other news, we are currently working on Version 1.2 of the rulebook, which will include only a few minor sentence rewrites, formatting fixes and requests for changes to the credits section.

Let's not sugar coat it - these new tariffs are making this all way harder than it needed to be, and right when we were approaching the finish line.

If you are in Wellington, NZ and have a copy waiting for you at Caffeinated Dragon, please remember to pick it up!  If they are still around after Wellington Armageddon I'll get in touch to have them delivered.

There are currently 2 God of Darkness Edition copies left for new New Zealand/Australian customers and when they're gone, you'll have to pay extra for American shipping if you want one.

If you have recently ordered Extra Move Cards, they are shipping from America and will arrive separately to the core game.  We have other options for you below while you wait.

For everyone else, please don't panic if you haven't been charged shipping yet - we have all the stock we need and are still working through 3296 orders in waves.

New Stuff

Version 1.1 of the Rulebook is now available, which clarifies some questions raised by players about Poison Tokens, Time Knives and Squids.

The Digital Move Card Tool is now available, which lets you learn all of the card interactions in real time.  Go have a play around with it!  It's mobile-friendly, but please do raise bugs with us so we can keep improving it.

This tool should help make things easier for beginners, by sharing helpful tool tips like when you've accidentally placed two Special Moves.  It is not currently compatible with The Time Knife, Krog da First Hu-man or Ride The Deck which all alter the number and order of Moves in a bout, but we'll work on that.

The Print & Play Swor'nament Bracket is now available, so you can organize your own Cup with up to 15 friends

The Print & Play Sickle vs Silvertongue Tutorial Battle is now available, so you can print your own Hero, Sword and Move cards and learn the ropes with this cut-down version of the rules that contains less Special Moves and no references to Burn/Poison/XP/Necrotic Tokens. A great way to ease your way into the core game!

Odd Tactics is now available, which is a few extra game modes for 3 or 5 players.  We'd appreciate feedback so we can fold them into the Core Rulebook later!

Ride the Deck is now available, an April Fools gag module that adds some new chaos to a regular battle.

The Qwest Test and Carnival Of Spores will be available soon - we're currently sharpening them aggressively so that they are epic, pretty and hella replayable.

I've also been listing a few Signed Pre-Production Cards on my Ko-Fi store - keep checking back for one you might like! They have old rules and are not Tournament Legal, but it's fun to own a little piece of the game's history and see how much things evolved over time.

Shipments to New Zealand and Australian customers are now 57% complete!

I will begin locking orders and charging cards from Australians that I didn't hear back from on Monday
